When I started brand photography years ago, I learned quickly: that a “pretty” picture doesn’t always translate into effective branding and marketing. This is the foundation of my Purposefully Planned Photography ™ promise.
The journey begins with a deep understanding of your brand, including your, mission, values, target audience, and the message you are looking to convey. To do this, we will get together for a discovery call, where the objective is to grasp the essence of your brand. In order for me to be able to capture it, we need to be able to describe it as if it is our own.
With a thorough understanding of the brand and messaging, the detailed planning phase begins. This includes developing a unique concept that reflects the brand’s identity and finding the perfect location that complements the vision. Finding the right location is arguably the most critical piece of the session because it is the one thing we cannot change on the day of the shoot. Therefore, it’s important to do the groundwork and conduct pre-site visits to ensure the location aligns with the greater vision for the session and the images. We also create mood boards to visualize the aesthetic, prepare a comprehensive timeline and shot list to cover all aspects of the brand, and select props that align with the brand’s tone and message.
Before the day of your session, we will get together again to make certain our T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted. If we are conducting a workplace and culture session, we will make sure to schedule a time to brief the team, ensuring everyone understands the bigger mission we are looking to accomplish, as well as planning outfits that resonate with the brand’s image, briefing them about the desired expressions, and sharing a detailed timeline to manage the shoot efficiently.
This is where the magic happens, and while we have a solid plan established, we are also open to spontaneous creative ideas. These creative moments often lead to some of the most captivating shots. Adapting on the fly ensures we capture the true essence and energy of the brand.
The process continues even after the photo shoot. We take our time to carefully select images that effectively represent your brand. We share the lightly edited images with our clients for feedback and make necessary adjustments to ensure the final images align perfectly with their vision.
My worst nightmare is creating images that clients can’t use or galleries they struggle to implement. Thorough planning is essential to avoid this and ensure that the final images are both beautiful and functional for branding and marketing needs.
I generally only work with a handful of clients every month. A typical session can take 6-8 weeks, depending on the complexity and scale of the shoot.
Developing a unique concept, thorough location scouting, and having a solid shot list.
Through our extensive pre-shoot discussions, mood boards, and continuous review throughout the shoot.
Absolutely! Client feedback is invaluable to ensure the final images align perfectly with their vision. We partner with you every step of the way!
